Owen SterlingA river flooding occurs when the course of a life or the influence of a person of power moves beyond its usual limits. This dream suggests that the internal structures used to manage the flow of experience are being tested by an influx of force that cannot be contained by usual means.
The brain uses this image to signal that emotional or situational pressures are moving beyond the banks of what is manageable. A surge of this kind can feel like a loss of control as the established course of a life is temporarily obscured by a wide and unstable expanse. This instability is a natural part of the processing that occurs when a person encounters a transition that cannot be met with old defenses. The dreamer finds that the sudden expansion of these forces provides a space to observe where the old boundaries no longer serve.
An overflowing river suggests that the weight of these circumstances has become heavy enough to soak into every part of the current situation.
Escaping a flooding river means the dreamer is actively moving through the chaos to reach a more stable position.

Owen SterlingInterpreter interprets your dreams
Many people believe a frightening dream announces something, when more often the brain was simply sorting the days just before it. During the night the mind files what was carried over from recent hours, and what gets filed loudest is what was felt most. A rough night leaves a residue by morning that fades with daylight. Nothing was sent. The sleeper was working, and the work is done.
