Owen SterlingA sink appears in a dream as a site of maintenance and the management of the small, necessary flows of a life. The brain uses this container and its water to sort through the small, repetitive tasks that keep a person’s life moving.
When the mind focuses on this symbol, it is often sorting through the mental energy required to keep daily affairs in order. The presence of this object points to the way a person manages the constant stream of minor obligations that sustain a person’s stability. There is a capacity here for renewal through the regular clearing of what has been used.
A dream involving a dirty sink or the act of cleaning a sink centers on the necessity of addressing what has been neglected. This process of clearing away what has been left behind offers a way to settle the feeling of being overwhelmed by small things.
A broken sink in a dream shifts the focus from maintenance to a failure of the systems that allow for regular cleansing. The dreamer finds that the mechanism for handling life’s small requirements is no longer functional, which points to a sense that the usual ways of managing stress or routine are currently unavailable.
The presence of a clogged sink shows that the mental energy used to handle minor details has become stuck, as if the small pressures of the day are no longer moving through the system. This state indicates that the routine has become heavy and unmanageable.
Owen SterlingInterpreter interprets your dreams
Many people believe a frightening dream announces something, when more often the brain was simply sorting the days just before it. During the night the mind files what was carried over from recent hours, and what gets filed loudest is what was felt most. A rough night leaves a residue by morning that fades with daylight. Nothing was sent. The sleeper was working, and the work is done.
