Owen SterlingA squid appears in a dream when motives are hidden and a danger that reaches out without warning is being processed. The brain uses this image to process the experience of navigating through a lack of clarity, where the grasping nature of an external force creates a feeling of being caught in a way that is difficult to map or anticipate.
The presence of such an image suggests that the dreamer is encountering an environment where the true intentions of others or the eventual outcome of an event remain hidden. Not knowing what lies beneath makes it difficult to decide how to move. There is a risk of being pulled into complications that are not yet visible. The dream provides a way to acknowledge this uncertainty so that the dreamer is not caught entirely off guard by what is currently concealed.
The act of eating squid or catching squid in a dream indicates an attempt to internalize or master these clouded circumstances. When the dreamer actively engages with the symbol, the dream moves from a state of passive vulnerability to one of active processing, as the mind seeks to grasp and digest the very complexities that previously felt threatening.
A big squid in a dream intensifies the feeling of being overwhelmed by the scale of the unknown. The increased size shifts the focus from simple uncertainty to a more significant pressure, suggesting that the obscured circumstances feel much more imposing than they might otherwise be.

Owen SterlingInterpreter interprets your dreams
Many people believe a frightening dream announces something, when more often the brain was simply sorting the days just before it. During the night the mind files what was carried over from recent hours, and what gets filed loudest is what was felt most. A rough night leaves a residue by morning that fades with daylight. Nothing was sent. The sleeper was working, and the work is done.
