Owen SterlingChasing a cat is the brain’s attempt to grasp a truth or a person that remains intentionally elusive. The mind rehearses the pursuit of something that refuses to be caught, following a clever trail that leads nowhere. The effort of the chase shows an active engagement with a cunning element that avoids direct confrontation.
Frustration arises when the object of pursuit remains just out of reach. This movement shows a struggle to manage a hidden slight or a minor, persistent malice that refuses to be brought into the light. There is a risk of exhausting mental energy on an evasive matter that offers no resolution. The dream provides a way to acknowledge this pursuit without the necessity of a final capture.
The blackness of the cat in a dream of chasing makes the thing being followed much harder to see, as the dark color marks a deception that stays hidden in the shadows.
Running from a black cat or being chased by a cat shifts the direction of the dream from pursuit to evasion, turning the clever trickster into a force that closes the distance. This change in movement indicates that the deceptive element is no longer something being tracked, but has instead become a pressure that forces a retreat.
