Owen SterlingLooking for a key in a dream is the mind attempting to locate a specific means of control or a way to resolve a current impasse. The brain is trying to find the right way to handle a situation where the necessary tools for progress have not yet been found or understood.
The dream points toward a mental search for a way to gain entry into a new understanding or a new phase of life. When the search is the focus, the dreamer is often working through the frustration of an obstacle that lacks a clear solution. This effort is a way for the brain to test different paths toward an answer. The inability to move forward is felt when the search remains unproductive. The mind is simply preparing for the moment when the correct method of approach becomes available.
Searching for keys or not finding keys in a dream shows that the means to move forward are not yet within reach. The dreamer experiences a blockage because the required instrument for progress is absent.

Owen SterlingInterpreter interprets your dreams
Many people believe a frightening dream announces something, when more often the brain was simply sorting the days just before it. During the night the mind files what was carried over from recent hours, and what gets filed loudest is what was felt most. A rough night leaves a residue by morning that fades with daylight. Nothing was sent. The sleeper was working, and the work is done.
