Owen SterlingSaving a squirrel in a dream is a movement of the mind toward the consolidation of resources. The sleeping brain uses this image to practice for times when things are harder to find.
The dream points to a drive for stability through the accumulation of small, necessary assets. This impulse can sometimes focus on the preservation of minor details or fleeting opportunities that the dreamer feels must not be lost. A feeling of urgency regarding the need to get ready for a lean time may be present. The dream reveals an inherent capacity to recognize and protect what is useful.

Owen SterlingInterpreter interprets your dreams
Many people believe a frightening dream announces something, when more often the brain was simply sorting the days just before it. During the night the mind files what was carried over from recent hours, and what gets filed loudest is what was felt most. A rough night leaves a residue by morning that fades with daylight. Nothing was sent. The sleeper was working, and the work is done.
